Well, if you don't tax enough and have to borrow from the "haves" to make ends meet then the "have-nots" have to be taxed to make interest payments to the "haves." That way not only do the ones who should be taxed not pay tax, they get to collect interest and keep their money.

Before I leave my comment, let me preface it with my observations: I realize your blog is frequently a rant. And as you've reminded folks so many times, it's your blog - a diary to enjoy in your old age rather than an opinion piece for public consumption. And you like to remind the public you are very opinionated and proud of it. Understood.

My comment: I just caught a snippet of former President Bill Clinton's interview by the ladies of The View. When asked who would win the election, he thought for a long while and answered, "Obama". But added that he was a Democrat and hoped Obama would win. Then Mr. Clinton went on to say that he liked McCain very much and said supporters shouldn't have to dislike the candidate of the opposing party.

My thoughts exactly. Why are there so many rabid supporters of both parties? When someone cannot say one positive thing about the opposition or point out one good idea in their platform, and when that person's political observations are almost entirely composed of words of ridicule and disdain, he/she is not a thoughtful person. That person could never impress or influence me.

You probably have an audience that agrees with you. So many people get their information from like-minded bloggers these days. But even though it's your blog and you merely want to record your thoughts for posterity, why not attempt to persuade an Independent or Republican to vote for the Democratic candidate? Isn't that the reason for political discourse?

But it is your blog. Continue preaching to the choir, as they say around here.

I personally have not found one item to praise in the Republican platform, have not yet read one thing about Gov. Palin even on conservative sites that recommend her to me, and have actually met and talked politics with Sen McCain many years ago.
We didn't perhaps take this personally enough 4 years ago. I feel my country is halfway to ruin because we couldn't avoid the last Republican train wreck.
If you want me, Janice, to say that Palin is cute and Ms McCain wears lovely clothes, OK, I think that's true and it's all you can get from me.
I am still looking for the positive part of your comment... praise of Clinton's sanguinity? Is that it?ata

I don't see myself as one of those people who 'hates' the Republicans. Sure, there are moderate Republicans, Republicans of honor, who serve the needs of their constituents, but in general I do agree with the philosophy of the Democrats (obviously).

What I'm trying to do here is not write a long discourse on why Obama is better than McCain, or why the Democrats are a better choice than the Republicans, but rather show some quick, simple yet very effective illustrations of those reasons and differences.

Do you think the caroon shown on this post is less effective or less true because it's a cartoon? It's a very dramatic illustration of what has historically happened under the "fically conservative" policies of Republican administrations.

Perhaps I should be more serious, but to be honest, I'm not really that interested in politics. This election tho, demands that the American people wake up, and I'm trying to spread the word. Perhaps others will do a better job, perhaps I am just preaching to the choir, but I hope that people who read my blog will be stimulated into action, will pass along the information, even if it's in the form of a cartoon, and will continue to educate themselves, and in turn, educate others.
