SEASON'S EATINGS!

Katie over at THYME FOR COOKING has organized a food exchange of sorts for the holidays. Called "Season's Eatings", people were invited to submit their names and addresses, and in return received the name and address of another blogger. The idea was to send a food or spice from your local area to someone far away.

I received my package from Jerry, a Canadian and fellow SlowTrav regular, who also blogs HERE. These are the Canadian treats I received from Jerry: maple syrup, wild blueberry preserves with gran marnier, and fig jam with rosemary and 8 year old balsamic vinegar!

Canadian foods Dec 08

I haven't yet used any of these gifts....yet. I'm thinking maybe the maple syrup will travel to Italy....or maybe not, just depends on if I find a recipe worthy of it while I'm still here in the states. Art wants buckwheat pancakes, but those sound a little ordinary for prized maple syrup.

I think baking powder biscuits would be perfect of the blueberry preserves, and a pork roast seems like the perfect place to use the fig jam. Maybe we'll fix dinner for friends one evening, or if not, we'll just enjoy it by ourselves!

That maple syrup makes me soooo envious! Well, actually, all the goodies look delicious... Blueberries- yum! If not pancakes how about ice cream... Or just a spoon?

How about a maple martini or maple butter tarts or maple glazed carrots or maple fudge or maple caramels . . .

I'm glad that you are enjoying your treats!
